Donnie Darko is a 2001 Ameircan drama film written and directed by Richard Kelly. It stars real life siblings Jake and Maggie Gyllenhaal, Drew Barrymore, Patrick Swayze, and Noah Wyle.
The movie was filmed over 28 days with a $4.5 million budget. It grossed just under $7.7 million worldwide and has gained a cult following since. A director's cut of the film was released on DVD in 2004.

The character Donnie Darko (played by Jake Gyllenhaal) is a high school student struggling with a psychological disorder who interacts with a guy in a monstrous rabbit costume named Frank. Frank tells him the time the world will end and at that time, a wormhole forms connecting the present to the past.
