12 Monkeys (also called Twelve Monkeys) is a 1995 film directed by Terry Gilliam that was inspired by Chris Marker's 1962 short film La Jetée. It stars Bruce Willis, Madeleine Stowe, Brad Pitt, Christopher Plummer and David Morse.

The film grossed around $168.8 million worldwide. Brad Pitt was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor and won a Golden Globe for his performance.

Plot[]

Prisoner James Cole (played by Bruce Willis) is "volunteered" to be sent from around 2027 back to the year 1996 to gather information about a virus that wiped out most of humanity.
